Girl Haunts Boy | Rotten Tomatoes

Audience Member PG films are meant to be simple, and easy to follow. They capture what it is to be a child, teenager and sometimes adult. Girl Haunts Boy is brilliant because it showcases grief and loneliness that follow a tragedy. Bea I believe represents what we want, but cannot have following tragedy. Cole is lonely, and Bea saves him from that, and yet we learn through the movie that Bea deserves to be free, and Cole needs to grieve. Although it may be cheesy, I personally cried for the last thirty minutes of the film, because accepting the truth versus wanting the opposite are framed in the film. Peyton List and Michael Cimino both have excellent performances, and this movie deserves a rewatch. I hope more PG films can be appreciated for their complexity, just like this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Toggo U It was great until the ending. Not sure why the director decided to go for a bittersweet ending, when it could have ended so much better. Girl Haunts Boy is deep but light, old timey but new, paranormal but not dark or weird, and romantic but not inappropriate. Soooo good!!!! Synopsis After the death of his father, Cole (Michael Cimino) moves with his mother to a new house in a new town to discover he's also sharing a room with the ghost of 17-year-old Bea (Peyton List), an adventurous, funny teenager from the 1920s trapped in present day and has been haunting the house since the 1920s under the curse of an ancient ring. The two lonely teens become fast friends and eventually fall in love -- but when Cole discovers a way to undo the curse, he must decide whether to keep Bea with him or let her go.
