Mike Ward PopMatters In Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, not only don't we know where we are, we also don't know how seriously we're supposed to take the movie. May 22, 2019 Full Review Witney Seibold Nerdist By now, the franchise has fully recovered from the American debacle of just two years previous, and feels like a Godzilla film again, no qualifications necessary. May 22, 2019 Full Review Bob Chipman Escapist Magazine Godzilla battles giant dragonflies and black holes in the underwhelming (unconnected) follow-up to 2000. Dec 6, 2005 Full Review Gerry Shamray Your Movies (cleveland.com) [Godzilla vs. Megaguirus] leads to the usual amusing monster clash. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 11, 2004 Full Review Pete Vonder Haar Film Threat A lively entry in the most recent series of Japanese Godzilla movies. Rated: 3/5 Aug 27, 2003 Full Review Read all reviews

Justin T I’m confused if this is a sequel or re-sequel or sequel to a re-sequel, the timeline is very confused in this film. This is not a good Godzilla film but it is better than the previous one. Much as there is lots of monster action, plenty of city smashing and a really cool new monster there are also lots of issues that stop this being even an average Godzilla film. It uses a mixture of old-school practical and really badly aged CGI. It’s the latter that makes this film hard to enjoy. They also have this horrible effect of dropping frames and blending frames for either drama or to make it more exciting but it just looks awful. Even Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) had better CGI as it was used sparingly and only where it was needed. Some sections felt like they were missing music. The human story was ridiculous but also serious which I have no real opinion on. It has the single worst freeze frame ending ever. The post-credit sequence literally made things worse and didn’t explain anything. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Rich A Megaguirus is one of my absolute favorite Kaiju she is amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Chanr3y k an overtop Godzilla movie with barebones plot and characters, what else is there to say about it Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Irelia I forgetable AND boring Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review Spike G A little blad but not bad overall Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/06/24 Full Review KerryWhite's S Rating: 5/10. 55/100 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews

Synopsis The Japanese government has devised a new weapon, dubbed the Dimension Tide, in their fight against radioactive monster Godzilla (Toshiyuki Nagashima). During a test, the Dimension Tide creates a wormhole through which a giant flying creature arrives and deposits an egg before fleeing again. This egg hatches many flying Meganulas that crave energy to give to their queen, the enormous Megaguirus (Tsutomu Kitagawa). Once awake, the Megaguirus faces off against Godzilla with humans in the middle.
