Love & Friendship finds director Whit Stillman bringing his talents to bear on a Jane Austen adaptation -- with a thoroughly delightful period drama as the result.
Daniel B El cómo esta contada esta cinta está hermosamente escrita, que aunaque muchas veces cae en superficialidades el drama tan genuino es atrapante. Kate Beckinsale regalan una actuación hermosa que es la que sostiene a la película. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Jovy J Devilishly clever cross between Jane Austen and Oscar Wilde. Love the malicious nimbe wordplay! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Alec B Stillman and Austen make for a delightful combination. Beckinsale's performance confirms my suspicions that she's far better than the roles she usually gets. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review R H Very funny, well cast, excellent adaptation of a Jane Austen's book. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/04/23 Full Review Roxanne M The costumes were a disaster. This was the time of dandys the men's clothing was supposed to be high costly fabric, perfect cut, lace ruffles, gold embroidery, high cravets, stockings, shining boots, knee high trousers, perfect tied kerchief. None of that was here. The women were horribly dressed as well you would have thought them members of the working classes instead of wealthy people. They should have been dressed in plain colored/ striped fabrics for day wear or preferably white which was incredibly popular, hats were vertically worn with ribbons, feathers, knickknacks on them, they should have been wearing round gowns with a corset and chemise underneath, they would have had a matching satchel to carry their necessary items in for each dress and their shoes would have been decorated as well. Printed fabric was strictly for the evening . The hairstyles of the women while pretty were also ghastly for the time period. Miss Jane Austen wrote the book this was based on "Lady Susan" in the late 1790s so the time period should be honored. Then the actors and actresses most of them had horrible fake accents although the leading lady Kate Beckingsale was truly the worst she sounded like a southern Belle trying to sound like a English lady of the manor. It was horrendous. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review V. T This movie was utterly delightful. I laughed the whole way through at the dry wit which permeated the movie, and I loved the ending. 10/10 for me, I have my new favorite movie.
