Jamie Graham Empire Magazine Working from her own story idea, producer Daisy Ridley shines in Magpie, an adultery thriller that’s a little too cool and calculated to truly ruffle viewers’ psychic feathers.  Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Catherine Bray Guardian The narrative isn’t really the point; this is first and foremost a tense portrait of a toxic relationship, and a brutally compelling one at that. Rated: 4/5 Nov 11, 2024 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A lean, mean revenge thriller that knows exactly what it’s about, “Magpie” has little originality but an invigorating clarity of purpose. Oct 29, 2024 Full Review Peter Gray Cinefied A deceptively fun, pulpy effort that serves up parley and pleasure in equal measure. Dec 5, 2024 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) That would have been a strong movie based on the standout performances by Ridley and Latif, but first-time feature film director Sam Yates takes a Hitchcockian turn and sends the movie to an even higher level. Rated: B Nov 24, 2024 Full Review Casey Chong Casey's Movie Mania Daisy Ridley brings her A-game to this twisty psychological thriller. Rated: 4/5 Nov 16, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Anne Such a clever-creative-did-not-see-that-coming movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Valerii Ege D Magpie is a brilliant film that tells the story of a man trying to turn his wife’s confinement into motherhood to his advantage, only to reveal, through a stunning twist, that the opportunity he thought he had was all a lie. The film’s focus on the imbalance of responsibility in parenting was, for me, more than enough reason to watch. But the twist at the end of the film completely changes everything, leaving not only Ben but also the audience in shock. And, of course, the truth revealed at the end shifts the meaning of everything we’ve watched throughout the film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review Harry O That you don’t know where it’s going builds credible tension throughout its short run-time. That you REALLY didn’t know where it’s going made it that much more enjoyable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review Audience Member A nice little story told by Tom Bateman, with a leading performance by his lady friend, the one, and only, Daisy Ridley. It's a solid indie flick with a good slow burn type of story which concludes with a nice pay off. Really well directed by Sam Yates. A great choice if you are in the mood for a little indie flick with strong performers, and an intriguing story. I'd say that Tom does a really good job with the writing in this one because of how the flick concludes. I do not need a movie which has a point to prove, but this movie does eventually find a message to tell by the end, and the way it's told.. is a lot of fun. Thank you! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Jennie F This was so surprisingly amazing!! You will not be disappointed. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Farah R A gripping thriller anchored in a strong performance by Daisy Ridley, Magpie offers plenty of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Despite a plodding middle, the movie builds ample suspense to keep viewers invested in the story and characters until the big finale. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Read all reviews
