Scott Tobias The Dissolve Though lackadaisical pacing steals a lot of the tension, especially in the shrug of a climax, Dead Kids is full of wondrous scene-by-scene oddities[...] Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 24, 2014 Full Review Ard Vijn ScreenAnarchy At the very least "Strange Behavior" is a nice guilty pleasure, but sometimes it's considerably better than that. Jan 17, 2020 Full Review Sean Axmaker Turner Classic Movies Online The title Dead Kids makes it sound like a slasher picture or a zombie film [but] it's really a mix of mad scientist thriller and revenge movie dropped into a somewhat surreal recreation of small-town Midwest America. rob d At its strangest, the movie can be fresh. Unfortunately it gets too convoluted to really work. It’s an intriguing curio from the early 80s. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Really cool and interesting mashup of slasher/sci-fi. Frightening, but actually somewhat understated (in spite of its history as a "Video Nasty"). The great cast and unusual plotting help raise this a level. Well worth seeking out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightfully offbeat gem that proves good writing and well-developed characters are not always antithetical to horror films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review delysid d its an odd film but i quite enjoyed it, reminds me alot of a cronenberg Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/09/18 Full Review Audience Member An Australian horror film that seems to go to great lengths to convince you it's American. All the lead actors are American, and it seems to take place in the Southern US, even though the town looks pretty Australian. One dead giveaway is "Shivers" by the Boys Next Door on the soundtrack ... not exactly a song you expect to hear in the US in the early 80's. The plot concerns experiments on local teens being carried out by a psychology professor at the local college. It's never really stated exactly why, but it's turning the local kids into murderers. The film benefits from a pretty high powered cast ... Michael Murphy and Louise Fletcher are top-billed ... and some genuinely odd and creepy imagery (the killer wears a Tor Johnson mask in one memorable sequence), but it also feels oddly unfinished. Linking scenes seem to be missing and the plot feels pretty vague at times. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
