Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com This remake, starring Lana Turner, of the 1939 The Rains Came is not as compelling, but the special effects (nominated for Oscar) are good Rated: C+ Jul 19, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Franky L I found this movie well acted, and it held my attention. Fred McMurray never disappoints when he plays the brutish, abnoxious drunk. Lana Turner is beautiful. The movie is outdated with its themes so that's probably why the low audience score. It's better than a 25+. Good Saturday afternoon oldie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Audience Member Artificial. Costumes are exquisite, Turner is drop dead gorgeous, Burton unconvincing in his devotion to his people or Turner. Scenery was best, story was good. Still, for some historic significance of India, worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Not as good as the original The Rains Came but an entertaining movie with good special effects. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This remake, starring Lana Turner, of the 1939 The Rains Came is not as compelling, but the special effects (nominated for Oscar) are good skip this and see the tyrone power-myrna loy version of this Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Aside from Burton not being a convincing native, nor MacMurray the drunk, this always feels a contrived situation for a love story and disaster movie rolled into one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Uninteresting melodrama that only pricked my interest due to the two leads. A 'nothing' story with lacklustre performances from the entire cast, with Burton particularly unconvincing as an Indian doctor. And if all that isnt bad enough - the third act plumbs new depths in Special Effects and stock footage! Poor! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
