Critics Consensus

Traffik highlights Paula Patton's impressive dramatic chops -- and smothers them in a thoroughly underwhelming exploitation thriller.

Steve Davis Austin Chronicle If this movie demonstrates anything, it's that this capable actress [Paula Patton] deserves better than just being known as the ex-Mrs. Robin Thicke. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 26, 2018 Full Review Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter While Patton almost single-handedly makes you want to take the film a little more seriously than is in any way warranted, it's impossible to do so on any level... Apr 20, 2018 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times An effective weekend-from-hell thriller with a vital message, a terrific lead performance by Paula Patton and some unexpectedly dimensional storytelling from writer-director Deon Taylor. Apr 20, 2018 Full Review Matt Cipolla Film Monthly It exploits for entertainment the trauma it claims to shed a light on -- and it isn't even entertaining on its own terms, much less well made. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 24, 2020 Full Review Mark H. Harris Black Horror Movies For a film with such a sense of social consciousness, Traffik comes off as a by-the-numbers action thriller that throws in a misguided "the more you know" message after the fact. Rated: 2.3/5 Jan 7, 2020 Full Review Linda and Al Lerner Movies and Shakers We give credit for Taylor creating a film dealing with this important issue. Aug 8, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Horror fan 4 A well made movie based on true events. The performance of Paula Patton was great. Tim Treakle Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Haley M Paula Patton is so powerful and stunning in every dramatic role she takes on. The film itself could be better written / directed, but Paula is a delight to watch nonetheless. Also fun to see her kick butt in action sequences! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Mark K This movie captivated me with its engaging plot, solid performances from familiar actors, and skillful storytelling by the director. I wholeheartedly recommend it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Mikael P Well... this movie was just plain dumb. Was mostly listening to my girlfriend saying "My god you guys are stupid!" to the actors. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Holds A Valuable Message To Put Out There. The Beginning Is A Tad Directionless, But Then It Gets Going With The Rest Being All Very Interesting & Well-defined. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible movie!! The girl in this movie is so annoying very typical!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
