Wind River (2017) | Rotten Tomatoes

Wind River lures viewers into a character-driven mystery with smart writing, a strong cast, and a skillfully rendered setting that delivers the bitter chill promised by its title.
James C Outstanding movie, great pace, dramatic, felt it. Great job. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Todd F It would be easy to handle this material with a heavy hand, but there is a lovely subtlety and very moving undercurrent of grief throughout. The writing, performances, and direction are first class. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Michael D Not entirely sure how or why, but this one touches my soul/heart/senses. Dialogue is on, acting is outstanding, miss Olson rises above anything else I have ever seen her do, mr Renner nails his bit like a hammer, mr Sheridan showcases a masterclass of restraint without sacrificing pace or story, Mr Greene delivers and so does everyone else. I once fell in love with the original Bladerunner. This one has the same effect; I love it and it isn't even a happy movie! It should make me unhappy, but I just love watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Audience Member The movie is full of cliches. There is nothing but cliches in this movie at all. Important plot points are not based on real history, they are just boring and not logical ideas of the creators. Most of the character lines have no ending. The main character has no personality, he's just a very good archer. There is no detective story, everything is boring and predictable. The theme is important, but the movie is very superficial and full of cliches. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie, other than Sicario, this was one of Taylor Sheridan's best. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen were outstanding although there could have been more development between the two in the beginning. There weren't any big twists in the simple plot, so it was fairly predictable. But I like how it all came full circle in the end and Jeremy Renner finished it. I thought it was funny how they cast Kelsey Chow (Yellowstone, Don't Move) as Nathalie when Kelsey is half White/Chinese. Plus Kelsey was 27 when this movie came out but she acted as 18 in this movie lol. Aldo, I guess only Asians can tell the difference between hapas and native americans? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Jay W Critics may argue that this movie is nothing more than a feature length version of an episodic police procedural. And honestly, that would be enough. But this one also includes great actors doing great acting. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olson are bringing out their A-game and acting the crap out of their scenes. It has a cool setting, one that adds a lot of personality and dimension to the story. Throw in some great visceral action. And top it all off with some great characters who go on compelling character arcs, and you got yourself a great action thriller. Straightforward no nonsense good stuff. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
