Critics Consensus

Much like a good RPG, Mythic Quest keeps expanding its world in clever ways while allowing its hapless characters to grow in surprising directions.

Ben Travers IndieWire Season 4 is just as refreshing as previous seasons. It’s just also taking a fundamental dynamic and bending it as far as it can, while growing the main characters in exciting, relatable ways. Rated: A- Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) In short, it’s long past time this bruisingly hilarious, completely addictive underground hit levelled up to something bigger. Rated: 4/5 Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Charles Pulliam-Moore The Verge Though digging deeper into everyone’s personal lives and easing up on the workplace shenanigans doesn’t move Mythic Quest into straight dramatic territory, it does make this season feel like you’re meant to appreciate how far these characters have come. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked "While Severance evidently hopes to make you think about such big topics as identity, humanity, labor and ethics, Mythic Quest just wants to make you laugh. It works on me!" Rated: B- Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Chris Revelle Pajiba The struggle between art and commerce isn’t new to the series, but this Roblox-flavored angle very much is and familiar character dynamics are being challenged in new ways. It helps too that the cast is just stellar. Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Preston Barta Denton Record-Chronicle With the laughter dialed up and the heartstrings tugged tighter, 'Mythic Quest' returns for season four with a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of creative chaos. Jim S Terrible season that is occasionally unwatchable. All of the characters have been stripped of any redeeming characteristics. Watching horrible and/or boring people rehash the same plot points from prior seasons is not captivating. Mythic Quest season 4 is bad TV. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review James A Season 1 was 10/10: the "Silicon Valley" but for an established-games-company shtick worked well, with a great cast of characters and plot lines. But the show has really gone downhill since then, with Season 4 being far the worst. It's purely a character show now: a "show about nothing" but where the characters are uninteresting, unfunny, and unlikeable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review C Z Really enjoying this series and the new season! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review Jonathan B At least as good as the other (excellent) seasons, each episode until now (episode 6) was unique and good for a couple of laughs! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Juan Pablo C By far the weakest season. Still has a few laughs here and there but characters are no longer that likable and the writing seems as uninspired as ever. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Artifex 2 By far the worst season of Mythic Quest. I couldn't even finish episode 5 as it was so damn bad. What used to be cool has turned to be a simpleton show with facepalm level humour (eg. the VR parts in episode 5) aimed for Big Bang Theory audience.
