O'Neill latest Cork retiree; Cunningham resigns

Cork footballers have lost another stalwart with midfielder Pearse O’Neill announcing his retirement from the inter-county scene.

The 2010 All-Ireland winner joins team-mates Graham Canty, Paudie Kissane and Noel O’Leary in hanging up his boots.

The 33-year-old Aghada man, who won an All Star in 2009, said: "I came onto the panel in 2006 and have loved representing my family, club and county by wearing the Cork jersey.

“I want to thank all the backroom staff that have been involved during my time with Cork, in particular Billy Morgan and Conor Counihan who were the two managers I played under."

“I also want to thank all the players that I played and trained with for all the enjoyment and memories”.

Meanwhile, Cork have also announced that Ger Cunningham has tendered his resignation as a selector for the hurlers after two years in the set-up.
