Stormers pitch ready for action

  • ️Thu Sep 28 2023

The new pitch at Cape Town Stadium, home of the DHL Stormers, has been installed and primed for game time ahead of the 2023-24 season.

This weekend’s iKapa Derby between PSL clubs Cape Town City and Cape Town Spurs will mark the reopening of the stadium which has been closed for the installation of the turf since July.

The troublesome playing surface had been an issue during Stormers matches since the team moved away from Newlands, and it tore up badly last season as they once again progressed to the Vodacom URC final.

The situation is set to improve, though, as a new hybrid pitch – which is 50% synthetic and 50% grass – has been relaid.

The Stormers’ first home game of the new season is against Welsh outfit Scarlets on 28 October in the URC.

BEFORE & AFTER! 🏟

The relaying of @CapeTown Stadium has officially been completed. The first match on the new 50% real and 50% artificial surface will take place on Saturday! ⚽️
