Brendan Canavan is a senior lecturer in marketing at the University of Huddersfield. He completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham in 2014 where his thesis examined sustainable tourism in small islands. Using mixed methods he investigated community attitudes towards tourism and the role this plays in small island life. Retaining a focus on sustainability, since then his research has broadened into consumer culture theory.
A senior lecturer in marketing at the University of Huddersfield, Claire completed her PhD at the University of Ulster in 2014. Her thesis examined the process of strategic marketing planning in the context of the tourism industry, with a specific focus on heritage tourism. She investigated the coordination and management of strategic marketing functions, while also examining processes of strategic implementation, using qualitative research methods. Before embarking on her academic career, Claire worked in industry as a Marketing Executive and prior to that, as a Research Assistant on several public sector consultancy projects.
