Robert Boudreaux
The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) regrets to announce the passing of Robert Boudreaux, a longtime champion of the organization who had served as Board Member as well as National President and who was inducted into the USSSA National Hall of Fame in 2002. Mr. Boudreaux, a beloved native of Lafayette, La., was 72.
Mr. Boudreaux first joined USSSA in 1981. He served as USSSA Slowpitch State Director for Louisiana for over 20 years, and he led many state, national and world tournaments as a USSSA Tournament Director. Mr. Boudreaux was the Tournament Director for the USSSA Men’s Major World Series in 1990 and 1991.
He oversaw the Greater Southwest, Atlantic, Midwest and New South Divisions as USSSA Executive Vice President, and he rose to become the USSSA National President from 1998 through 2001. Mr. Boudreaux was one of only three individuals to have earned the prestigious President’s Award in both Director and Executive categories.
Most recently, Mr. Boudreaux’s passion for golf led him to start the USSSA Junior Golf Program, for which he served as National Director. He was also the founder and promoter of the Cajun Classic Men’s Major NIT and was instrumental in the construction of Pelican Park in Carencro, La., in 1985. In addition to the USSSA National Hall of Fame, Mr. Boudreaux was inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame in New Mexico, Texas, Georgia and Louisiana.
