Synopsis
After a prominent drug dealer is murdered by two criminals - Tatang and Daniel - Sergeant Acosta takes the lead on the investigation, but their trail goes cold almost immediately. It might have to do with the fact that Tatang and Daniel get shuttled right back into prison after their killing spree and it's the last place the cops are looking. Federal agent Francis is called in to oversee the case? Not trusting his superiors to find the right leads, Acosta continues to stay involved and starts to show Francis just how immoral his orders are. Now caught in a web of deceit and corruption, Acosta and Francis are on a collision course with the government officials who will do anything to silence them - and no one is safe. The film is based on the true scandal that rocked the Philippines where prison inmates were contracted by high-level politicians to temporarily leave jail and conduct a series of assassinations before returning to incarceration.

Limited Releases Are What They Are
September 27th, 2013
There are a lot of limited releases on this week's list, including a few earning stellar reviews. There are also a few with weak reviews or that are the wrong genre to thrive in limited release. One film fits into both ends of the spectrum, We Are What We Are, which is earning great reviews, but as a horror film, likely won't find an audience till the home market. Hopefully I am wrong. Inequality for All is earning even better reviews, but it is a documentary, so it have very little chance to expand. On the Job has the best reviews of the week, but it is a foreign-language action film, so it will likely not earn breakout success.
