Synopsis
When Sweetpea arrives in Japan with the intention of breaking it off with her rockstar boyfriend, she finds a mystery awaiting her. Her boyfriend Jamie is missing. Last seen shooting a music video deep in a forest. Sweetpea sets out to solve Jamie’s disappearance with the help of Mak, a cool but cagey ranger. As she unfolds the sequence of events before he went missing, Sweetpea’s suspicions of the people around her turn towards the chilling forest itself.

Limited and VOD Releases: Waiting All Week for Limited Releases

There are almost 30 films opening in limited release this week, so obviously I won’t have time talk about all of them. I won’t have time to talk about half of them. The two films that stand out in this crowd are The Beatles: Eight Days a Week, The Working Years and Miss Stevens. Both are earning great reviews, but the former is a documentary and the latter debuts on VOD on Tuesday, so neither has a great shot at box office success.

This week, the biggest hit of the year so far, Captain America: Civil War, comes out. It is also one of the best and the Blu-ray is a contender for Pick of the Week. Unfortunately, the screener is late and I don’t like awarding Pick of the Week to a release where I’m still waiting on the Blu-ray. The rest of the contenders are smaller films, including The Bloodstained Butterfly, which arrived late. Part of me wants to give the title to The Transformers: The Movie, but while I plan to buy the Blu-ray, I understand that Nostalgia has a lot to with that. ... Oh what the hell, doing it. The Transformers: The Movie is the Pick of the Week.
