Rover 75 becomes Roewe 750.

So what is in a name? Rover has all those years of history and pedigree, Roewe has none of this but maybe this will prove to be it success, no baggage to carry, nobody to keep going over and over the past 10 to 50 years or so, so it a clean break and the new name is Roewe, which is very similar to Rover if you say it quickly.

The Roewe 750 is here with engine packages of a 1.8 ltr and 2.5 ltr V6, the are some minor body changes but nothing to write home about, basically it is still the Rover 75 which has been re badged into the Roewe 750. It may surprise you that this car may not even be available outside of China for several years, even 2009 has been mentioned as a release date, so in the meantime we are going to see these car being driven around Beijing and wondering where on earth we can pick one up from.

SAIC who bought the old Rover business probably being very shrewd here, they can market an executive car, built by a Chinese company to the Chinese people, we all know that the there are many wealthy or wealthier Chinese now who maybe want to fly the Chinese flag.
