25 May 1967 Handover to RAF 10 Squadron as XV102.
11 November 1968 Named 'Guy Gibson VC' in a ceremony at RAF Brize Norton.
29 May 1970 Operated RAF Brize Norton to JFK Airport, New York. Flying time 7:40hrs.
28 November 1970 Operated Washington Dulles to RAF Brize Norton via Montreal. Total flying time 7:20hrs.
4 December 1970 Operated RAF Brize Norton to Washington Dulles via Montreal. Total flying time 8:45hrs.
25th July 1971 Carried the body of late President William Tubman of Liberia from London to Liberia.
Late 1972 Carried Mr. Anthony Royle, Under-Secretary for Commonwealth Affairs, to China.
22 July 1974 Returned tourists to UK, who had fled to the Sovereign Base Area on Cyprus after the Turkish invasion on 20th July 1974.
July 1984 At RAF Wyton for avionics work.
15 November 1985 Carried the PM, Mrs. Thatcher, from London Heathrow to Belfast and back again. Mrs. Thatcher met with the Taoiseach, Garret FitzGerald, to sign an agreement about Northern Ireland. Crewed by Captain Jewell and F/E Richie Spence.
21 November 1985 Carried the PM, Mrs. Thatcher, from London Heathrow to Brussels and back to meet President Reagan. Crewed by Captain Richard King and F/E Richie Spence.
27 April 1986 Carried the body of the Duchess of Windsor from Paris to RAF Benson. (Appears to have been XV102 based on this photo.) The operation was labeled as Op HAZE.
May 1986 Used for testing with Northrop Modular Infra Red Transmitting Sets (MIRTS).
19 March 1989 Carried the Prince and Princess of Wales from Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia to RAF Brize Norton after a quick tour of the Middle East, stopping in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. Return leg crewed by Captain Halstead and F/E Richie Spence.
8 October 1993 First flight after conversion to C1K tanker/transport.
8 October 1993 Delivery to 10 Squadron as C1K.
Early 00s Repainted into the new grey colourscheme.
Mid-2005 Carried a commemorative badge to celebrate the 90th anniversary of 10 Squadron.
14 October 2005 Transferred to 101 Squadron upon disbandment of 10 Squadron, allocated letter 'T'.
September 2007 Special colours with 'Celebrating Oxfordshire' logo and text on fin.
17-20 June 2010 Took part in the RNethAF open days at Gilze Rijen Air Base on 18/19 June 2010.
12 December 2011 Aircraft withdrawn from service, flown to Bruntingthorpe on its final flight. Total time: 41802.20 hours.
20 May 2012 Airframe scrapped at Bruntingthorpe.

1. 9th August 1967, the still unnamed XV102 over the Scilly Isles.
2. Another air-to-air study of XV102 in the original colours of 10 Squadron.
3. This photo from 1970 shows XV102 arriving on Runway 20 of what was then RAF Changi, Singapore.
4. Another landing shot, but from October 1973 and most likely in Europe.

1. In July 1980 the titles on the fuselage have been shortened and the black radome is gone.
2. In May 1986 XV102 was used for a test installation and performance studies in association with the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough.
3. The subject matter were these Modular Infra Red Transmitting Sets (MIRTS) from Northrop (one on each side).
4. By July 1990 XV102 has gained a refuelling probe and some additional antennas.

1. A great photo showing XV102 in formation with Tristar ZD952.
2. During their 2007 deployment VFA-41 'Black Aces' operated over Iraq, where XV102 was available to dispense fuel.
3. This was the first time that F-18 pilot Brian Knoll encountered the VC10.
4. The CAG's F-18F 'NH/100' refuels from the right refuelling pod on XV102.

1. In this photo from 2007 there is tape covering all the openings on the fin, perhaps in preparation for some paintwork.
2. From September 2007 XV102 carried special colours to celebrate a thousand years of Oxfordshire.
3-4. Coming in to land.

1. In June 2010 XV102 was at Gilze Rijen airbase for the yearly RNethAF airshow.
2. On 28th October 2010 XV102 visited Hanover airport.
3. XV102's last landing was at Bruntingthorpe airfield on 12th December 2011.
4. May 2012 and the scrapper is getting ready to reduce XV102 to bits of metal.

Colourschemes

RAF White over grey scheme with large blue lightning flash down the fuselage. Initially "Royal Air Force Transport Command" titles and roundels on the fuselage, later this became "Royal Air Force Air Support Command" titles. Titles changed to just "Royal Air Force" in 1972.
RAF All over grey scheme with large lightning flash down the side of the fuselage. Toned down roundels and fin flashes, code letter 'T' on fin (since 2005).
RAF Same as above with 'Celebrating Oxfordshire' logo and text on fin.
