Biography
Born on the 10th of February 1745 Henry James Pye was the eldest son of Henry Pye and his wife, Mary James. [1] He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford and succeeded his father in 1766. [1]
In 1768 he married Mary Hook, daughter of Colonel William Hook.[1] They were parents of two daughters. [1]
He was returned to Parliament in 1784 and member for Berkshire.[1] From 1790 until 1813 he was poet laureate to George III. [2] [3]
Mary died on the 21st of December 1796 and in November 1801 Henry married Martha Corbet.[1] They were parents of a son and a daughter. [1]
Henry passed away on the 11th of August 1813. [1]
