Biography

Born on the 10th of February 1745 Henry James Pye was the eldest son of Henry Pye and his wife, Mary James. ^[1] He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford and succeeded his father in 1766. ^[1]

In 1768 he married Mary Hook, daughter of Colonel William Hook.^[1] They were parents of two daughters. ^[1]

He was returned to Parliament in 1784 and member for Berkshire.^[1] From 1790 until 1813 he was poet laureate to George III. ^{[2] [3]}

Mary died on the 21st of December 1796 and in November 1801 Henry married Martha Corbet.^[1] They were parents of a son and a daughter. ^[1]

Henry passed away on the 11th of August 1813. ^[1]
