The Williamsburg Sampler: Bed and Breakfast Inn in Virginia

  • ️Mon May 23 2022

Our bed and breakfast on Jamestown Road in Williamsburg stands as a fine example of a 18th century plantation style structure. Constructed in Williamsburg’s bicentennial year (1976) and located in the Architectural Protection Corridor, our four-bedroom home has welcomed guests, family, and friends for over thirty years. An easy three-block leg stretch puts you in the middle of attractions and activities including dining, shopping, and of course the cobblestoned streets of America’s Colonial history.

Our inn features the upholstered interior of a cross between a treasure chest and an antique store, but with all the modern amenities a traveler expects today. It features a menagerie of finds, art, knick-knacks, and memoirs collected from near and far by the owners and curated for our guests.

The Williamsburg Sampler is also ideally situated to walk the footsteps of Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and John Tyler on the beautiful and historic campus of The College of William and Mary. The inn offers convenient off-street parking. Well-behaved pets and owners are welcome at The Williamsburg Sampler.

A Note from the Innkeepers:

Circa 1982…

The Williamsburg Sampler was born during the early resurgence of what we now think of as a “Bed and Breakfast”.  Created to serve our guests with hospitality-first, family-friendly and personalized accommodations as they visit the area’s attractions.

Initially founded by Ike and his late wife Helen as a labor of love, a cure for boredom, and a “what’s next” they spent many years building, expanding, collecting, more collecting, and evolving to what is the always-changing needs and expectations of the traveling public.  Testament to hard work and dedication, The Sampler now stands as one of the oldest, continually operated Bed and Breakfast in the area.

Circa 2022…

The second generation, Laura, now stands the watch and guides the ship.  Years in the food and beverage business and owner of two other Bed and Breakfast locally, hospitality and the industry run through her veins.

And Ike?  Oh, he’s still very much about.  Now splitting his time between “head muffin maker”, dosen, color commentator at-large, and enjoying his “second semi-retirement”.  One of his proudest achievements is that a third generation is a part of his present and future legacy.

Credit where credit is due…

None of the above, achievements, awards, and overall guest experiences would not be possible without a cadre of amazing staff and crew… many of whom have been with us for years.  We could not do this without them.
