Exhibit in Helsinki honours Kremlin critic Navalny

Helsinki, like many world capitals, has seen vigils for Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny who died in a remote penal colony.

Dozens of people gathered in front of Helsinki's Oodi Library on Saturday for the opening event of the exhibition 'Faces of Russian Resistance.'

The exhibit, staged in memory of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, featured speeches by parliamentarians Pekka Haavisto (Greens) and Kimmo Kiljunen (SDP).

The exhibit showcases Russians who have been convicted of opposing the country's regime or who are awaiting verdicts.

The exhibition is open until Thursday next week.

Saturday also saw a vigil for Navalny outside the Russian embassy in Helsinki.

Prison authorities in Russia announced the death of the jailed opposition leader on Friday.
